The minimum relief amount payable to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes victims of various kinds of atrocities has been increased by 150 per cent. According to the amendment the existing rates between 20 thousand rupees to two lakh fifty thousand rupees of relief to the victims of atrocity, their family members and dependents have been increased between fifty thousand rupees to five lakh rupees.
This is the first time that the scale of relief has been revised since the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules, was first laid down in 1995.
