Relations with EU countries is of great importance:Hamid Ansari

The Vice President Mr. Mohammad Hamid Ansari has said that the relationship with the European Union member countries is of great importance to India . India has maintained good relations with these countries and development of these relations further is going to be a continuous process. He was speaking to the mediapersons on board of the special aircraft while traveling to the Czech capital city Prague today.<br/>Mr. Ansari said that the basic purpose of this visit is to revive the old relations with the Czech Republic and Croatia . They have been very supportive for our country on several issues and various international fora and this provides a solid basis of understanding, he added.<br/>Replying to some queries on accountability of the projects being implemented through the public money, the Vice President said that the people have a right to know and ensure that their money is being spent for the right cause and in the proper manner. He also highlighted the role of the peoples’ representatives in this regard.<br/>The Vice President has reached the Czech capital for the six-day tour the Czech Republic and Croatia.Head of the Protocol Unit of Czech Senate Mrs. Eva Hellova and Vice President of the Senate Mr. Jiri Leska welcomed him at the airport. Union Minister of State for Communications Mr. Sachin Pilot and four Members of Parliament are also accompanying the Vice President on this tour.<br/>During the first leg of the visit, Mr. Ansari would meet the Czech President Mr. Vaclav Klaus, Prime Minister Mr. Jan Fishcer and Chairman of the Senate Dr . Premysl Sobotka among other prominent leaders. The three agreements which are expected to be signed during the visit would include agreement relating to economic co-operation, social security and a protocol on amending the bilateral investment promotion and protection agreement with the Czech Republic . <br/>The Vice President would also deliver a lecture organised by the Prague Security Studies Institute on Challenges of Global Governance in the 21st Century. <br/> ‘<br/>
