Rehman khan seeks re-election to RS from K’taka

The Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Rehman Khan is seeking re-election to Rajya Sabha for the fourth time from Karnataka. He filed his nomination today as a Congress candidate. BJP has fielded former Member of Parliament, Basavaraj Patil Sedam and retired IAS officer R. Ramakrishna as its nominees for the Upper House.The Members of Legislative Assembly will caste their vote on March 30 to elect the candidates for Rajya Sabha. In the Assembly, BJP has a strength of 121 members including the Speaker, Congress has 71 and Janatha Dal(S) has 26 members in the Assembly. There are seven Independents elected to the lower House. Our Correspondent adds that a fourth Candidate is likely to file his nomination as an Independent to make use of the surplus votes.
