The Prime Minister today said that regular stock taking is essential in the complex strategic environment across the world. Dr. Manmohan Singh was addressing a three day conference of Heads of Missions in New Delhi this morning.

The External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna said that the envoys have the special responsibility to play leadership role in taking up and resolving issues faced by Indians abroad. He said that India is blessed with a heritage which is unmatched and unparalleled. He said, this needs to be harnessed to the full.

Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai said that the public expectations of the conduct and implementation of India's foreign policy have greatly increased.
