Regional News Unit, Radio Kashmir Jammu, celebrated its 45th Foundation Day with much fanfare. The RNU Jammu was established during India-Pakistan war in 1971. A special live phone-in programme with Shri Jagmohan Sharma as host was broadcast with popular news readers of bygone era sharing their experience of over 30-40 years on air. Current and old listeners called and shared their feelings too. Phone-in callers said they love the news on radio for its reliable and timely delivery. Many callers said they were so used to Smt. Chanchal Bhasin, Shri Narendra Bhasin, Shri Joginder Pal Sharaf and Smt. Lajja Manhas reading out news that they miss those voices now.<br/><br/>The guest news readers shared their experiences too. They narrated how earlier times were challenging in terms of communication methods and the way Newsroom functioned in those years. The threat of war and militancy always loomed large. The guests also appreciated various improvements in radio news presentation and how well RNU has coped up with it.<br/><br/>The RNU Jammu has been consistent with its news bulletins in Dogri and Gojri. It has three news bulletins in Dogri and one in Gojri language. Besides the spread of news in and around Jammu, the RNU has wide reach through its news bulletin in Gojri in far-flung mountainous region in J&K state.
