Reforms in judicial delivery system need of hour: Justice Gogoi

The Supreme Court Justice Ranjan Gogoi said, that according to changing times reforms in judicial delivery system is needed.<br/><br/> Speaking on the occasion of centenary year of building of the Allahabad High Court yesterday, Justice Gogoi said, that no doubt that judiciary is facing vacancies in bench and lack of infrastructure but challenges including huge number of pending cases are cumulative effects of several other factors.<br/><br/>Speaking as the chief guest of ceremonial programme of 100 years of construction of building of the Allahabad High Court, justice Gogoi said like other courts the Allahabad High Court is also reeling under serious problem of huge log jam of more than nine lakh pending cases exsist till October this year. <br/><br/>He said that besides lack of judges there are factors including repeated adjournments, existing legal procedures among major casue. He said that judicial procedures also needed is fine tuning.<br/><br/>On the occasion Justice Gogoi also released special postcard of Indian Post depicting 'The Allahabad High Court'. He also released a documentary on achievements and Museum of Allahabad High Court.<br/><br/>The Supreme Court judge Justice R K Agrawal and Justice Ashok Bhushan also spoke on this occasion.<br/><br/>While welcoming the guests the chief Justice of Allahabad high court Justice V B Bhosale also highlighted the challenges before the court and said the high court is determined to downward pendency of cases without comprising quality of work and judges.<br/><br/>The Allahabad high court and its Lucknow bench have 87 judges against the sanctioned strength of 180 judges. Allahabad High court started functioning in the building from 27th of November in 1916. The present High court building was inaugurated by then Viceroy Lord Chemsford in 1916. Allahabad high court is also celebrating its 150th year of foundation.
