Finance Minister and BJP Leader Arun Jaitley today said, reforms in 1990s were taken under compulsion but the government under Prime Minister Modi is undertaking reforms by conviction. <br/><br/>Briefing media in poll bound Gujarat's Surat, Mr Jaitley said, foreign investments had completely stopped at a point in India. He said, now India have come up by 42 positions in world ranking of ease of doing business. He said, while BJP has maintained its credibility, Congress has slowly become extinct.<br/><br/>Addressing media in Ahmedabad, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, people in the state have access to clean fuel due to Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Mr Pradhan said, 1.02 crore households out of the 1.4 crore households in the state have either LPG or PNG Connections. <br/><br/>He said, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi keeps asking what work has been done in Gujarat but he should instead take lessons from his party's defeat in UP civic body polls.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, interacting with professionals and businessmen in Surat, former Prime Minister and Congress leader Dr Manmohan Singh said, demonetisation cost the country 1.5 lakh crore rupees in economy. He said, GDP growth rate in first quarter fell to 5.7 per cent. He said, even if the growth reaches to 6.7 percent in 2017, it is still less than UPA's 10 year average of 10.6 percent.
