In Punjab, about 44 per cent construction work of Guru Gobind Singh refinery at Bathinda has been completed. The 19,000 crore rupee refinery is the joint venture of Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) and Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL). A spokesman of the company expressed confidence that the nine million metric tonne per annum (MMTPA) refinery would be commissioned by mid-2011. He said the work on the pipeline from Mundra port to Bathinda refinery for crude supply is in the mid-way and is likely to be completed by November next year.
