In Kerala, relatives of the two fishermen who were shot dead by Italian Marine on board the vessel Enrica Lexie have filed fresh petition before the Kerala High Court that their claim for compensation may be referred to the Lok Adalat for mediation. This is part of an effort to reach an out of court settlement on the compensation claim. The petition comes in the backdrop of the Italian government offering the relatives for an out of court settlement for a sum of 1 crore rupees each as compensation for the two fishermen killed. The High Court will consider the petition within a short while from now.
