Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has appealed to Government and Road Transport Corporation Employees and Teachers to call off the ongoing General Strike. Speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad a short while ago, the Chief Minister asked the employees to call off the strike in view of the consultation process being held by the centre. Stating that the common people especially farmers and students are facing problems, he said the centre has recongised the intensity of the strike. Meanwhile, employees under the National Majdoor Union in the State Road Transport Corporation have agreed to call off the strike. Following talks held by Transport Minister B Satyanarayana, NMU leaders have agreed to call off the strike for some time. The Transport Corporation employees have been taking part in the General Strike for the past 22 days. Meanwhile, Telangana Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof Kodandaram said the General Strike would continue in the Telangana region. Educational Institutions in the region largely remained closed today even after Dasserah holidays while the General Strike continuing on 28th day on Monday.
