In Assam, a red alert has been sounded across the state fearing backlash following the arrest of ULFA Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and the deputy commander-in-chief, Raju Baruah. According to official sources, all the police stations of the state have been alerted to maintain vigil and to step up security measures in view of the situation. The centre has also directed the Assam government to beef up security measures in the state.<br/>AIR Silchar Correspondent L T K Singh reports that ULFA had struck in a big way with twin blasts in Nalbari town killing nine and injuring over 50 people after the arrest of its two leaders of the outfit, self-styled foreign secretary, Chitraban Hazarika and finance secretary, Sasha Choudhury on November 5.
