Union minister of steel Chaudhary Birender Singh has said that the Indian recycling industry should be looked at with a fresh perspective to emerge as a key GDP contributor. He was speaking at the inaugural session of the fifth International Indian Metals Recycling conference organised by the Metal Recycling Association of India (MRAI) in Bambolim, Goa. Mr. Singh said, the recycling industry generates capital, which is the need of the hour for India, besides saving energy and reducing environmental degradation.<br/><br/>In a letter addressed to MRAI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the recycling industry's potential contribution to employment generation and sustainable management of resources. The Prime Minister appreciated the organisers for providing a common platform for greater cooperation among stakeholders through the conference.<br/><br/>Minister of mines Narendra Singh Tomar, minister of state for water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation Arjun Ram Meghwal and Niti Aayog member V.K. Saraswat were also present at the occasion.
