Record number of employment-oriented works underway in MP under MNREGA

Record number of employment-oriented works are underway in rural areas of Madhya Pradesh under MNREGA. As many as 13 lakh 50 thousand labourers are employed in more than 29 thousand works in over 21 thousand Gram Panchayats in the state. This success has been achieved through effective implementation of MNREGA and Electronic Fund Management Scheme started for prompt payment of wages in Madhya Pradesh.

AIR Correspondent reports, Large number of employment-oriented works have been started for needy rural labourers. In view of monsoon season, labourers are being provided works for flood control, water conservation & augmentation, soil improvement, repair of canals, rural drinking water scheme, sanitation and fisheries.

Employment-oriented works are underway in 21 thousand 3 hundred out of 23 thousand Gram Panchayats in the state. So many works were never started under MNREGA. In year 2012-13, simultaneously MNREGA works were undertaken in 18 thousand Gram Panchayats. Employment-oriented works started this year are the maximum in the state so far. Till first week of June during current fiscal, 331 crore Rupees has been paid against material and wages to labourers under MNREGA.

A part from quick payment to MNREGA labourers, Electronic Fund Management Scheme is also being used in Madhya Pradesh for transfer of funds for material and administrative expenses. Besides, e-FMS has also ensured transparency in MNREGA works in the state. Madhya Pradesh has presented an inspirational model of MNREGA implementation before entire country.
