Ready to resign from PM post, says Khanal

Nepal’s Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal has said he is ready to resign from his post but there has to be an alternative to the present government. Speaking at a programme, in Kathmandu, Mr. Khanal said that he will resign only after political parties come to a consensus on the next leadership. The Prime Minister urged the political parties to take up their responsibility and deliver the constitution within the stipulated time. He claimed that the top leaders of the UCPN (Maoist)and Nepali Congress have agreed that the peace process is the main priority. The five point deal reached between the three major political parties leading to the extension of the term of Constituent Assembly last month clearly mentioned that the Prime Minister was to resign and form a consensus government
