Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today said the Government was prepared to discuss any issue in accordance with rules and hoped the opposition would cooperate in tackling legislative business before the two Houses. Speaking to reporters while entering Parliament on the first day of the monsoon session, Dr Singh said the Government was prepared to discuss any issue in accordance with the rules and procedure.
Asked about the adjournment motion the BJP plans to move in Parliament on the ethnic violence in Assam, Dr Singh said Parliament was a forum for dialogue. Dr Singh expressed hope that all political parties would cooperate with the Government for smooth functioning of Parliament during the monsoon session.
Meanwhile, The Prime Minister termed BJP leader LK Advani's remarks that UPA-II government was illegitimate as disgraceful and unfortunate. Advani's remarks led to a strong protest in the House by the Congress. Earlier, Congress President Sonia Gandhi strongly criticised Advani for the remarks.
