The Home Minister and former Finance Minister P.Chidambaram today welcomed the General Budget 2012-13 presented in the Lok Sabha.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Chidambaram said that the Finacne Minister Mr Pranab Mukherjee has laid a foundation for fiscal consolidation, recovery and growth. He said that the Budget will help in bringing the high growth for the country.
The Defence Minister Mr A.K Antony said Mr. Mukherjee has presented a good budget and he is happy for the amount allocated to the Defense sector in the budget.
The Congress party has appreciated the budget. Party leader Ms. Girija Vyas said, it has been focused towards the achievement of inclusive growth in all sectors including health and education.
The BJP termed the budget as disappointing. Talking to reporters the party spokesman Mr. Shahnawaz Hussain said that common people have been burdened with proposed imposing of around 40 thousand crore rupees through indirect taxes.
Mr. Sitaram Yechury of the CPM said that extra burden of indirect tax has been imposed on the people. He said that it is not the right way to control fiscal deficit by imposing indirect taxes.
Mr. Gurudas Dasgupta of CPI termed the budget as directionless. He said it will not help in bringing turn around of the economy of the country.
