In Andhra Pradesh, re-polling is underway amidst tight security in 29 polling stations of 9 districts across the state. Re-polling was necessitated in these polling stations following some incidents. According to Election authorities, attacks by political activists on the police in few incidents, burning of EVMs and technical errors led to re-polling.
Meanwhile, counting of votes is underway in 22 districts across the state in the elections held for civic bodies. Elections were held in two phases on 6th and 11th of last month for 1095 Zilla Parsihad Territorial Constituencies and 16589 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies. Over 57 thousand candidates were in the fray. The first result is expected by afternoon as counting of ballots consume time.
