The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala has rolled out the country’s first air conditioned double decker rake for running between Howrah and Dhanbad in the Eastern section of Indian Railways.RCF General Manager Pardeep Kumar said that the double decker rake comprises ten coaches, including two power cars. He claimed that these futuristic high speed stainless steel coaches are comparable with the best at international level.He informed that these double decker coaches would be introduced to cater to the heavy rush of commuters in the high density corridors of the country and these would offer AC travel at a lower cost.He said, new design coaches can run at a speed of 160 kilometre per hour while these were tested and at a speed of 180 kmph.
