The Reserve Bank of India will soon release a billion pieces of plastic notes of ten rupee denomination on a trial basis. Kochi, Mysore, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar and Shimla have initially been selectedfor the trial on the basis of their varied geographical locations andclimatic conditions. Minister of State for Finance Nomo Narain Meena gave this information in the Lok Sabha today. In a written reply. Hesaid the field trial of plastic currency is meant to increase the life of bank notes of lower denominations, he said.
