The Reserve Bank of India has issued fresh advice to Scheduled Commercial Banks to ensure Opening of No-Frills Accounts with Zero balance for Students from Minority Communities and other disadvantaged groups for Availing Various Scholarships offered by the government.This fresh advice will go a long way in helping lakhs of students. According to an official release,as the Ministry of Minority Affairs had been getting feedback from such students that they are facing problem in opening bank account to draw scholarship amount. In this regard, the issue was taken up by the Ministry of Minority Affairs with the Department of Financial Services for allowing such students to open the account.
