RBI increases amount of rupee that individuals can carry while traveling abroad

RBI has increased the amount of Indian currency that resident individuals can carry to and fro while traveling abroad. In a notification issued from Mumbai on Friday, RBI has said that the limit of Indian Rupees that travelers can bring in or take outside India has been increased from Rs.7,500 per person to Rs. 10,000 per person. The limit will be applicable to all countries except Nepal and Bhutan and is aimed at providing greater flexibility to travelers.Meanwhile, RBI has announced two changes in the names of applicants for new bank licences in the private sector. While Value Industries Limited, Aurangabad has withdrawn its application; in an inadvertent error, the name of another applicant, K. C. Land & Finance Ltd., Chandigarh was missing the list of 26 names that had applied for new banking licences.
