Ravichandran Ashwin in top 20 of ICC's Test Rankings

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has broken into the top 20 of ICC's Test Rankings for the first time. He is now at a career-best 18th spot after guiding India to a series whitewash over New Zealand at home. The 25-year-old from Chennai finished the two-match Test series with 18 wickets, and gained 26 places on the bowlers' table as India defeated New Zealand 2-0.Another Indian bowler, Pragyan Ojha, has moved up a place to 14th, which is his career-best ranking.India pace bowlers Zaheer Khan and Umesh Yadav slipped a place each. While Zaheer is ranked 15th, Umesh occupies the 48th spot.The rankings for Test bowlers is still headed by South Africa's Dale Steyn, with teammate Vernon Philander and Saeed Ajmal of Pakistan in second and third positions, respectively.In the batting chart, the two centurions in the Bangalore Test, New Zealand captain Ross Taylor and India's Virat Kohli, made upward movements. Kohli has vaulted 12 places to achieve a career-best ranking of 35. Taylor has moved up six places to 12th.Among the other batsmen to make upward movements are Mahendra Singh Dhoni – 36th, and Daniel Flynn 68th Among the batsmen who have lost ground after the Bangalore Test are Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Tendulkar went down by five places and is in 16th position, while Sehwag is ranked 23rd after going down by one place.Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakarra remains the top-ranked batsman, followed by South Africa's Hashim Amla and WestIndies veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul in second and third positions, respectively.The rankings for Test all-rounders is still headed by Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan with South Africa's JacquesKallis in second spot.In the ICC Test Championship, India continue to be in the 5th spot, behind fourth-ranked Pakistan. New Zealand also remain static in the 8th position.
