After Team India's recent humiliating defeat in the Test series against England, the Board of Cricket Control India, BCCI has named former all-rounder Ravi Shastri, the Director of Team India. He will assist the team management for the upcoming five-match ODI series and a lone Twenty-20 against England. BCCI said in a statement that Duncan Fletcher will continue as the head coach, while Ravi Shastri will be the overall in-charge of the cricket affairs of the Indian team. Joe Dawes, the bowling coach and Trevor Penney, the fielding coach, have been rested for the series. Former all-rounder, Sanjay Bangar and former Indian pacer, Bharat Arun, have been named as the assistant coaches with R. Shridhar linking up as the fielding coach.Team India had lost to England, 1-3 in the 5-match series, with the last two games being an innings defeat.
