Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today emphasized the need for providing internet services to common man at affordable prices. Addressing the 57th meeting of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in Hyderabad, he said out of 19 thousand stratup companies, 5 thousand have emerged during the past year. He called upon the ICANN community to bring the Internet services in local languages so that the internet enabled services will be available to more number of people. <br/><br/>He also said internet services have become part of daily life and reached to the remotest villages in the country. India is hosting the first ever global internet summit after the US government relinquished the control over the fundamental domain names system. Over three hundred representatives from nearly 70 countries are taking part in the summit.
