Ratan Tata to head India-South Africa CEOs Forum

South African President Jacob Zuma and Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma today launched the India-South Africa CEOs Forum in Mumbai. The forum will be headed by Ratan Tata. <br/><br/>Addressing top businessmen from the two countries, Mr. Anand Sharma said the forum will provide a platform for sustained business interaction and guide policy issues. He said that the bilateral trade is expected to touch 10 billion dollars by 2012.<br/><br/>The Commerce Minister listed several potential areas of bilateral cooperation. These include infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, mines and minerals, oil and natural gas. Apart from them, cooperation in baking and financial services, tourism, information technology, pharmaceuticals, automobiles and auto components has a great potential .He urged the South African enterprises to invest in India’s growing infrastructure projects and agro-processing industry and hoped that the forum would boost economic relations between the two countries. <br/><br/>The South African President on a three day visit to India reached New Delhi this evening and will hold delegation level talks with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at Hyderabad House tomorrow. He is accompanied by a high level delegation to give a fresh push to the bilateral trade and economic ties. <br/><br/>During the talks with Dr. Manmohan Singh, the focus will be on defence, trade and economy, agriculture, transport and communications. The two sides will also discuss the steps to revamp bilateral investment promotion agreement. AIR correspondent reports that UN reforms will be an important area of discussion between the two countries.
