In Andhra Pradesh, rasta roko demonstrations were held on the high ways in Telangana region today. Demanding introduction of bill to carve out Telangana State during the next Parliament session, the Telangana Rastra Samithi and Telangana Joint Action Committee have given a rasta roko call. In response to the call, the agitators staged road blockades across the region bringing vehicular traffic to a grinding halt for several kilometres on high ways and important roads leading to Hyderabad for several hours. However, the protests largely remained peaceful and incident-free. Police have taken several leaders who took part in rasta roko into preventive custody before clearing the traffic blockades on the highways.
