Rassoul arrives in New Delhi

Afghan Foreign Minister Zalmay Rassoul arrived New Delhi this morning on a three day visit to India. Rassoul will call on the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh this evening and brief him on the evolving situation in his country. He will discuss with the External Affairs Minister S M Krishana ways to combat the common threat of terrorism. Kabul has openly accused Pakistan's military-intelligence of harbouring the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Amid various proposals about the reintegration plan in Afghanistan, India has already made it clear that it backs the Afghan government. However, New Delhi has insist that the Taliban should renounce violence, cut off links with terrorism and accept the Afghan constitution. Official sources said that the two sides will also discuss the security of about 4,000 Indians working in various professional and reconstruction activities in Afghanistan.
