Rashtriya Lok Dal and Congress are engaged in talks for an electoral tie-up in the next assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Talking to media persons RLD Chief Ajit Singh said at Lucknow this afternoon that the talks are at a primary level and the shape of the proposed alliance is yet to be finalised. He dismissed speculation about his party's merger with the Congress. Replying to a question he said there are no talks with the Samajwadi Party for poll alliance in assembly elections. He claimed that there would be polarisation of voters against Mayawati and new alliances would be formed as people are fed up with the misrule of the BSP government.
