Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao today met top UN diplomats from Brazil, Japan and Germany and discussed issues of mutual interest. On the last leg of her six-day US tour, Rao met the ambassadors at a lunch hosted by Indian envoy Hardeep Singh Puri in New York. <br/><br/>She also met Hamidon Ali — permanent representative of Malaysia to the UN and President of the Economic and Social Council during which they discussed forthcoming session of the council and its preparatory process.<br/><br/>Earlier, Rao had extensive discussions with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other senior officials of the Obama Administration during which she discussed issues concerning bilateral ties besides the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan.<br/><br/>During the talks with her counterpart Bill Burns, Rao reviewed the progress of India-US strategic dialogue. She also discussed India's foreign policy at prominent think tanks such as the Woodrow Wilson International Centre in Washington and the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.<br/>
