Prime minister Narendra Modi today said revolutionary Rani Gaidinliu dedicated her life for the country and the present generation should take inspiration from that. Speaking on the birth centenary of woman freedom fighter from North East Rani Gaidinliu in New Delhi, Mr Modi said, Mahatma Gandhi's thoughts were spread across the Northeast by Rani Maa. The Prime minister said she spent her youth in jail and Pandit Nehru went to meet her in the prison. Saying India is made by the people, the Prime minister said it is unfortunate that even after so many years of Independence, several people who fought for freedom are not so well known.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Finance minister Arun Jaitley said, government is fully determined to take every step possible to improve the connectivity and education facility for the North Eastern region.<br/><br/>Mr Jaitley said the Naga peace accord and the Bangladesh land boundary agreement will bring peace and prosperity in the region. <br/><br/>Home minister Rajnath Singh said peace and development in the Northeastern region is vital for country's development. Mr Singh said Rani Gaidinliu's work during the freedom movement should reach every nook and corner of the country.<br/><br/>Minister of Doner Jitendra Singh announced 9 crore rupees to set up a museum and library in the honour of Rani Gaidinliu in Kohima.
