Rampal still eludes arrest; additional paramilitary forces sent to Hisar; 4 bodies recovered

Haryana Government's operation at Barwala Satlok Ashram to execute non bailable warrants against accused Rampal continued today also. About 15000 persons have been evacuated from the Ashram. As per the official sources about 2000 followers are still reportedly in the Ashram and after their safe evacuation, action to arrest Rampal will be taken.

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal,expressed the hope that the operation would be completed soon. In a statement issued in Chandigarh today, he said that state government is proceeding carefully and cautiously to arrest Rampal and first priority is to safely take out the innocent children, women and aged persons who are stranded in the Ashram. He also expressed concern over the incident of misbehavior with media persons during the police operation and gave the assurance that whole incident would be investigated.

Earlier in the day bodies of women were handed over by Rampal followers and were sent for postmortem. As per the preliminary postmortem report of three dead bodies have no injury mark and report of other two are still awaited. So far, 450 persons have been arrested including main aids of Rampal.

Hisar District Commissioner M L Kaushik said that arrangements have been made for followers who had left the Ashram with food, shelter and money to return to their native places. DGP Haryana S N Vashisth said that Haryana Government had asked for additional paramilitary force to tackle the situation to which two additional forces of CRPF have been sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Haryana Police restrained from using fire arms during their operation though Rampal followers attacked them with different caliber of weapons.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh also spoke to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and took stock of the situation. In a tweet, Mr. Singh said during a telephonic conversation, the Chief Minister apprised him about the situation. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said, the state government is acting on Court’s orders and situation can not be termed as the break down of law and order.He also expressed grief over the deaths of people.
