The self-styled godman Rampal was produced before the Punjab and Haryana High Court today. The court asked the Haryana government to submit the report in three to four days. Amicus curiae has been asked to find out regarding such deras in the state. The HC has also sought information regarding arms, ammunition and bunkers in the Ashram. The next hearing will be on 28th November.
Earlier, a bail plea was cancelled by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh in a 2006 murder case. He was arrested yesterday late evening from his ashram in Hisar. Rampal was brought to Panchkula General Hospital after his arrest for a medical check up. As per the Chief Medical Officer of general hospital, Rampal is fine and all the medical test reports are normal.
Rampal, a co-conspirator in Rohtak's Karonda ashram 2006 murder case has been out on bail since 2008 April. Rampal's supporters had indulged in vandalism in a court in Hisar in July when he was going there in connection with a 2006 murder case. The High Court took suo motu notice of the incident and had summoned Rampal.
Meanwhile, arrested controversial godman Rampal rejected charges that he had asked his followers to be kept hostage inside his ashram at Barwala to evade police action in a contempt of court case. Talking to reporters after his medical examination was conducted at General Hospital in Panchkula, he said the allegations against him are false.
