Haryana police today said four bodies have been found in ashram of Rampal in Barwala . Addressing a news conference in chandigarh this afternoon DGP S N Vashisht said that Satlok Ashram supporters handed over dead bodies of four women today morning and they have been sent for post mortem at Agroha medical college. Meanwhile, a woman and child were brought in serious condition to the hospital from the Ashram in the wee hours today morning later died in the hospital due to delayed medical help.
Haryana police has booked Rampal under sedition charges. Cases of criminal conspiracy and rioting have been registered for yesterday's incident in which scores of people including media persons were allegedly beaten during clashes between the police and Rampal's followers.
DGP said that there is no proposal to have dialogue with Rampal and he must surrender before law. He siad priority is to carry out the operation without hurting the followers who have been forcefully kept captive in the Ashram by Rampal’s supporters. He said as per the sources Rampal was still in the Ashram. Till now 270 people have been rounded up by the police and cases of criminal conspiracy, rioting and interrupting the Government proceedings have been levied on Rampal and his followers.
Earlier around 10,000 followers left Barwala’s Satlok Ashram. Authorities were trying that more and more followers leave before they resume their operation today to arrest the self styled Godman Rampal.
Many followers left the Ashram on their will late last night and today morning.
As per the police around 5000 more people including women and children are still in the Ashram. Despite Rampal supporters used different caliber of weapons, the police has so far not used fire arms and trying to carry out the operation without hurting the innocent followers present in the Ashram. Police is still to enter the Ashram and is closely guarding the area. As per the DGP the cause and time of death of four deceased women will be ascertained after the post mortem. He said that two other persons including a year and half old child died due to natural cause.
Rampal is on bail in connection with a case of murder registered in 2006 after a clash at his ashram at Kainthola in Rohtak district. He faces charges of conspiracy in the case and has failed to appear before the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
