Ramgaswamy’s resignation accepted in Puducherry Assembly

In Puducherry, the Speaker of the Assembly Mr R. Radhakrishnan today announced that the resignation of Former Chief Minister N. Ramgaswamy and Angalan as members of the house has been accepted. AIR Puducherry correspondent reports following this, the strength of the ruling Congress in the assembly comes down to 11. The Vaithilingam-led Congress government enjoys the support of seven DMK members and also the outside support of three Independents in the 30 member Assembly. Rangaswamy, who was Chief Minister for about 7 and half years, resigned in 2008, following differences with cabinet colleagues. He had quit the congress party a fortnight ago alleging that the constituency from where he was elected was being neglected.
