Union Consumer Affairs minister Ram Vilas Paswan hoped that the Consumer Protection Bill 2016 would be passed in the next session of the Parliament. Talking to newspersons in Guwahati today, Mr. Paswan said that the new bill has proposed to set up a Consumer Protection Authority to see the interest of consumers. <br/><br/>He said that the new bill will replace the Consumer Protection Act of 1986.The minister said that the Parliamentary Standing Committee has submitted its report regarding the proposed bill.<br/><br/>The bill has also provision of strict action to prevent adulteration. The minister further said that studies are being made on what action could be taken against those celebrities who would featured in misleading advertisement.
