Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has congratulated Gujarat government on becoming the first State in the country for establishing Cashless System for distribution of foodgrains. He lauded the efforts of the state for installing Aadhaar enabled payment system in more than 17 thousand 200 Fair Price Shops, much before the targeted date of 31st March this year. <br/><br/>The beneficiaries under National Food Security Act will need to carry only Aadhaar cards for getting their foodgrains in Gujarat. This will help in establishing the identity of beneficiaries, stopping the leakages of grains at shop level and eradicate corruption in the Public Distribution System. <br/><br/>The Minister said, majority of states have agreed to provide cashless arrangements by 31st March this year. Mr Paswan said, there are over 81 crore beneficiaries under National Food Security Act and cashless system in PDS will become the largest cashless system in the country, once it is implemented.
