Ram Navami being celebrated today

Ramnavami, the birthday of Lord Ram is being celebrated today with religious fervour and gaiety. In Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Rama is the centre of attraction for lakhs of pilgrims who are visiting prominent temples including Sri Ram Lala Temple after taking dip in holy Saryu river.

There was a sea of humanity at Janmabhoomi complex and famous temples like Sri Ram Vallabha Kunj, Dashrath Mahal, and Siyaram Qila Khunki Ghat. The people chorused popular bhajans when the birth of Ramlala was announced at 12 hours.

Elsewhere in the state, the Ramnavami was celebrated on Sunday in accordance with Udaya Tithi.

People thronged various temples in Mahrajganj, and Gorakhpur.

The people also visited Devipatan Dham in Balrampur and Nimisharanya in Sitapur. With this, almost ten days’ navratra celebrations came to an end on Sunday.

In Jharkhand, large and colourful processions are being taken out in different towns where people will show their skills of using swords- both in defensive and offensive style.

In capital Ranchi festivity is in air since Saturday after the “Astami Jhankis” were carried out. Similarly, in other towns like Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Chatra, voluntary organizations have come forward to celebrate the festival in the spirit of harmony.

Administration has made elaborate arrangements to maintain law and order.

The President and the Prime Minister have greeted the people on the occasion.

In Delhi also, people are celebrating Ram Navami with ritualistc fasting, attending special prayers ceremonies and singing devotional songs in the temples.

Hundred of devotees are taking part in the processions better known as Shobha Yatra organize by prominent tempels of the city dedicated to Lord Ram. People can be seen carrying Ram Idols along in the processions at many places.

Hundreds of People are thronging streets to view the Shobha yatra which take place on a big scale every year.

On Sunday is also the ninth and last day of Navratra, that marks the end of Chaitra Navratri, the nine days when Godess Durga is worshipped Long queues of worshippers can be seen outside the temples where they are arranging langars and special puja sessions for the devotess in their premises.
