Eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani today visited Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to express solidarity with the fasting ex-sevicemen demanding One Rank One Pension, OROP. The protest by the ex- servicemen entered 78th day today.<br/><br/>Talking to media, Mr Jethmalani expressed concern over delay in implementation of OROP.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said government will safeguard interests of soldiers retiring at an early age through higher pensions.<br/><br/>He, however, said it is not possible to revise pensions every year as demanded by the agitating ex-defence personnel.<br/><br/>Mr Jaitley said the government is committed to OROP but the only difficulty is the arithmetical translation.<br/><br/>OROP envisages a uniform pension for the defence personnel who retire in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
