Raksha Bandhan festival being celebrated thorough out country

Raksha Bandhan- the festival strengthening the sacred bond between brother sister is being celebrated thorough out the country today. Delhi government has announced free travel for female folk in DTC buses up to five O clock . Delhi Police has made elaborate traffic arrangements to ensure ease and safety of the commuters. General public and motorists have been advised to plan their journeys, keeping the rush in mind and advance their journeys so that delay can be taken into account. They are also advised to use public transport to avoid congestion on roads. The President, the Vice-President and the Prime-Minister have greeted people on Raksha Bandhan . Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil in her message said that the festival is symbolic of the bonds of love, affection and mutual trust which have existed for centuries between sisters and brothers of every community. Meanwhile, the President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil met various school children in the Rashtrapati Bhawan today on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and tied rakhis. AIR correspondent reports, the children who met the President were from 5 to 10 years age group and came from different schools in Gurgaon, Bahadurgarh, Kolkata, Greater Noida and Bhiwadi. Mr. Mohammad Hamid Ansari said that this Festival reinforces the spirit of family bonding, societal harmony and peaceful coexistence. Dr. Manmohan Singh called for renewing the efforts to ensure the dignity of women and to promote peace and harmony in society.
