Raksha Bandhan- the festival strengthening the sacred bond of the brother sister relationship is being celebrated in several parts of the country today. The President, the Vice-President and the Prime-Minister have greeted people on Raksha Bandhan . Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil in her message said that the festival is symbolic of the bonds of love, affection and mutual trust which have existed for centuries between sisters and brothers of every community. Mr. Mohammad Hamid Ansari said that this Festival reinforces the spirit of family bonding, societal harmony and peaceful coexistence. Dr. Manmohan Singh called for renewing the efforts to ensure the dignity of women and to promote peace and harmony in society.
