Rajya Sabha witnesses noisy scenes with Opposition Congress accusing govt of conducting I-T raids

The Rajya Sabha today witnessed noisy scenes, with Opposition Congress accusing the government of conducting Income Tax raids on their party MLAs from Gujarat, who are staying in a resort in Bengaluru. <br/><br/>Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said his party MLAs have been kidnapped. He said, a Congress minister in Karnataka, who is coordinating with the MLAs in their stay, was raided and questioned. Mr Azad also alleged that the Centre is misusing its power by engaging Central and State agencies for this purpose.<br/><br/>Earlier, Leader of House Arun Jaitley denied any searches or raids were conducted at the resort where the Congress MLAs are staying. He said, a Congress minister was picked up by the authorities and taken to his residence for interrogation. <br/><br/>Not satisfied with the clarification by Mr Jaitley, the Congress members trooped into the well raising slogans against the government. Taking note of the situation, Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien adjourned the House for ten minutes till 1137 hours.
