The Rajya Sabha on Friday took up a private member bill to revitalize efforts towards promoting the small family norms of up to two children per eligible couple in the country. BJP Member Rakesh Sinha moved the Bill namely the Population Regulation Bill, 2019.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Speaking on it, Mr. Sinha highlighted its importance and stressed on the need for population control. BJP members Mahesh Poddar and Vikas Mahatme supported the Bill, while Congress members Dr. Amee Yajnik and L. Hanumanthaiah opposed it. &nbsp; Opposing the Bill, Prof. Manoj Jha of RJD said, it will promote the victimization of women. Dr. Amar Patnaik of BJD, Dr. V. Sivadasan of CPI (M), Binoy Visawam of CPI and others also participated in the discussion. The discussion remained inconclusive. Earlier, several private members' bills were introduced in the House.</span>
