Rajya Sabha takes up Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill, 2017 for discussion

<div><span style="font-size: 10pt;">The Rajya Sabha has taken up the Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill, 2017 for discussion. Minister of State of Road Transport and Highways Mansukh Mandaviya moved the bill for consideration and passing in the House yesterday. Speaking on the bill, Mr Mandaviya said, the bill focuses on road and vehicles safety and ease of transportation. He said, there is a provision in the bill to facilitate the people to apply online for learning license.</span></div>''<div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span></div>''<div>Initiating the debate on the bill, BK Hariprasad of the Congress said, the bill is silent on the issue of road safety and it has been  designed to help the corporates.</div>''<div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span></div>''<div>Vinay Sahasrabuddhe of BJP said, over 1 lakh 70,000 people have lost their lives in road accidents in 2014 and the fatality is increasing every year, therefore, road safety has been included in the amendments.</div>''<div>   <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span></div>''<div>Members from other political parties including SP, CPI(M), JD(U) and BSP participated in the discussion. The debate on the bill remained inconclusive.</div>
