Rajya Sabha resumes discussion on working of Ministry of Railways

The Rajya Sabha today resumed discussion on the working of the Ministry of Railways. Participating in the discussion, Neeraj Shekhar of BJP said, changes have been witnessed in the Railways sector during the present government. He said, emphasis has been laid on the cleanliness of trains and stations across the country. He said, capital expenditure has been increased and it has now reached two lakh 45 thousand crore rupees.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Appreciating the Gatishakti plan, he said, the government has set a target to operationalize 100 cargo terminals and planned to run 400 new Vande Bharat Trains. Derek O Brien of Trinamool Congress asked the government to come up with the big step which is going to sustain in the upcoming years in the Railways sector. He also questioned the government over merging the Railways' budget with the General Budget. Kanakmedala Ravindra Kumar of TDP appreciated the Railways Ministry for the trial of the anti-collision Kavach system. He also demanded completion of pending Railways' project in Andhra Pradesh and improvement in amenities at Vijayawada Railway station. Discussion is underway.</span><br />
