The Rajya Sabha today resumed discussion on Union Budget 2022-23. Participating in the discussion, BJP MP Syed Zafar Islam said, the Narendra Modi government is compassionate towards the poor people and has allocated resources for the various welfare schemes.<br />''&nbsp; <br />''He took a dig at the Congress saying that UPA refers to the Under Performing Alliance and what they had promised for the people of the country, was fulfilled by the present dispensation only. Another party MP Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi said, this Budget provides a roadmap of the initiatives taken for the welfare of the people by the government.<br />''&nbsp; <br />''He said, provisions have been made in the Budget for Jawan, Kisan and Vigyan. Talking about the inflation, he said, double digit inflation was recorded during the UPA government, but this government has capped it under control and it is currently at the level of 5.59 percent. Rejecting the allegations of the opposition that use of drones will only benefit the rich in the farming sector, he said, every strata of farmers will reap the benefit by this initiative. He said, use of drones will facilitate the sprinkling of pesticides and mapping of crops.<br />''&nbsp; <br />''Mahesh Poddar of BJP said, the budget has taken care of all sections of society. He also compared works done by the Congress government during 70 years then the Modi's government for seven years of dispensation. KJ Alphons of BJP said, India is going to be the fastest growing economies in the world in the next three years as per IMF projections. Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale said, this budget will provide justice to the poor and take forward the middle class. He lauded the government for increasing the budgetary allocation for SCs.<br />''&nbsp; <br />''On the other hand, Chhaya Verma of Congress demanded the government to bring women reservation bill in Parliament then&nbsp; the&nbsp; significance of Beti Bacchao Beti Padhao will only be fruitful. She also raised questions over low budgetary allocation for MGNREGA. She said, the provision of use of drones in the farm sector will only be beneficial for the rich and it will lead to decrease in employment opportunities for the poor farmers. She accused the government for not implementing MS Swaminathan Report in letter and spirit.<br />''&nbsp; <br />''She said, though the Modi government has set a target of doubling farmers' income but failed to achieve it so far. Sujeet Kumar of BJD demanded increased allocation for research and development in the Health and defence sector. Another party MP, Prashanta Nanda said that the budget focuses on research and development, infrastructure, capital expenditure, digital health card and digital currency which will definitely go a long way for the economy of the country.<br />''&nbsp; He said the budget does not mention about price rise which affects the middle class, poor and farmers. Prof. Manoj Kumar Jha of RJD raised the issue of unemployment. He said, there is no mention in the Union Budget for employment generation in the education and health sectors. He urged the government to fill the vacant posts in various government departments. Vandana Chavan of NCP drew the attention of the government towards urbanization and the challenges posed by it.<br />''&nbsp; <br />''She suggested the government to set up the National Commission on Urbanization as well as the State Commission on Urbanization as a statutory body. She also demanded to create a special cadre for Municipal Services. Anil Desai of Shiv Sena has expressed concern over the decreased budgetary allocation for MGNERGA saying that various other schemes are also linked with this scheme. He also demanded to increase the allocation towards the education sector from existing one percent of the GDP to three percent.&nbsp;<br />''&nbsp;<br />'' MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan questioned the budgetary allocation towards the Prime Minister Development initiatives for North East region saying that whether the provision of 15 thousand crore rupees will address the core issues and concern of the youths. Ram Nath Thakur of JD(U) raised the issue of low budgetary allocation for MGNERGA demanding to enhance the allocation. He also demanded to increase the rail services from Bihar. Jose K Mani of KC(M) demanded from the government to write off the loans of farmers who have died due to corona.<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp; <br />''He also suggested the government to plan a special package for unemployed workers who are facing difficulties in finding jobs due to Covid-19 pandemic. Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Syed Nasir Hussain, Rajmani Patel of Congress, GVL Narasimha Rao, Ramkumar Verma, Ajay Pratap Singh of BJP, Abdul Wahab of IUML also participated in the discussion.
