Rajya Sabha today felicitated the Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO, for its successful launch of Astrosat, a Space Observatory on 28th of September from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. Making a reference in the House, Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari said this takes India into the group of countries that have space telescopes to study celestial objects and processes. <br/><br/>Mr Ansari said two indigenously made communication satellites, GSAT-6 and GSAT-15 were also successfully launched this year. GSAT-6 was launched from Sriharikota in August and GSAT-15 was launched in November from Kourou in French Guyana in South America. He said the credit for all these landmark achievements goes to the scientific community, particularly those working with ISRO.
