Rajya Sabha continues discussion on Union Budget 2022-23

<span style="color: #222222;">Rajya Sabha today continued its discussion on the Union Budget 2022-23.<br />''<br />''Participating in the discussion, Sushil Modi of BJP termed the budget as growth-oriented mainly focusing on job creation in every sector. He said, the increased allocation for capital expenditure will push job creation in the country. He said, capital expenditure creates a multiplier effect in the economy and its increased allocation will boost the demand and supply.<br />''<br />''The BJP MP said, the digital push has created immense opportunities in the country. He said, 5G service is going to be launched and its auction will garner over one lakh crore rupees. He lauded the government efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic saying that the government has ensured last-mile delivery of Covid vaccines. He said, India is among the few countries which developed indigenous vaccines and it has provided covid related assistance and medical supplies to 150 countries.<br />''<br />''Another party MP Sayed Zafar Islam said, economy is going in the right direction and India is the fastest-growing economy in the world. He said, export has reached an all-time high figure. He said, the government is focusing on creating a robust health infrastructure across the country. He also lauded the budgetary allocation of over one lakh crore rupees on the Education sector.<br />''AIADMK MP Dr. M Thambidurai lauded the Budget terming it realistic. He said enormous initiatives have been taken by the government to protect the economic interest of the country during the Covid-19 pandemic. He urged the government to provide 60 lakh jobs to the youths as promised in the Budget.<br />''<br />''Birendra Prasad Baishya of AGP said, the Budget will boost economic growth. He said, increase in capital expenditure by 30 per cent will lead to expanding infrastructure in the country. MP Dr. Narendra Jhadav also appreciated the Budget saying that priority has been given to economic growth over the fiscal consolidation.<br />''<br />''Participating in the discussion, Dr. Amar Patnaik of BJD said, the Budget has laid emphasis on clean energy. Highlighting the challenges posed by climate change, he stressed that there is a need to incentivize private investment in the clean energy sector. On the allocation for social sector schemes, Dr. Patnaik said, out of 21 primary social sectors, the allocation for 8 sectors have been reduced.<br />''<br />''He also raised the question over the investment in the health sector saying that budgetary allocation for health is only 0.33 per cent of GDP which is less than last year. He said, the budget is silent about the doubling of farmers' income. K.R Suresh Reddy of TRS talked about the plight of farmers in the country. He said, the Centre has to assure the farmers that MSP will remain.<br />''<br />''Vijayasai Reddy of YSR Congress said, Andhra Pradesh's share of tax has been reducing year after year. Mr. Reddy said, this budget does not ensure support to States. Jharna Das Baidya of CPI(M) said, the budget failed to provide relief to common people. Sukhram Singh Yadav of Samajwadi Party said, there was no mention of farmers' protest in the Budget. He said, no changes have been made in the income tax slab which disappointed the people. RJD MP, A.D. Singh said, no concrete measures have been taken by the government to make the country self-reliant. He said, complex structure of compliances needs to be removed. Binoy Viswam of CPI criticized the Budget. He alleged that this government is working in the interest of corporate.<br />''<br />''Dola Sen of Trinamool Congress questioned the government on its earlier promises to provide jobs saying that unemployment rate is highest in the country in the last 45 years. She said, the government is disinvesting the profit making PSUs. She added, this budget is silent about the revival of traditional industries. Congress MP Kapil Sibal said, this budget has no vision and long-term plan. He said, low allocation in the areas of research and development will hamper the growth of the country. He also raised the issue of a hike in prices of petroleum products.<br />''<br />''Dr. Kanimozhi Somu of DMK demanded setting up of oxygen plants in every hospital in the country through the PM Care fund. Elamaram Kareem of CPI (M) also talked about the rise in inflation in the country and job creation. He questioned the reduction in budgetary allocation for MGNREGA. Sanjay Singh of AAP also raised the issue of unemployment. He criticized the government over police action against the railway job aspirants in Prayagraj. The discussion remained inconclusive.</span>
