Rajya Sabha bids farewell to Dr Karan singh, Janardhan Dwivedi and Parvez Hashmi

The Rajya Sabha today bid farewell to three of its members, who are retiring on 27th of this month. <br/><br/>They are Dr Karan singh, Janardhan Dwivedi and Parvez Hashmi, all Congress, representing the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Making a reference to their retirement, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said the retiring members have contributed significantly to the deliberations of the House and the Parliamentary Committees and in the process, to nurturing and strengthening Parliamentary democracy and in enhancing the dignity and prestige of the House.<br/>'<br/>Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said Dr Singh is a model for the politicians of the day. He became the Head of the State at the age of 18 in independent India. Referring to Mr Dwivedi and Pervez Hashmi, Mr Azad said both were student leaders.<br/>'<br/>Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad described Dr Singh as a philosopher king. Responding to felicitations, Dr Singh regretted that there has been deterioration in debates and discussions in Parliament and is subject to frequent disruptions.<br/>
