Rajya Sabha adjourns amid opposition uproar over issue of price rise

<br/>The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 12 noon after the Opposition pressed for discussion on price rise seeking suspension of question hour. As the House met for the day the Opposition was on its feet demanding a discussion on the issue under Rule 168 which provides for adoption of a substantial motion on the issue. The leader of the opposition in the House Mr. Arun Jaitley while charging the government of complete failure in addressing the issue of price rise said there is unanimity among the broad spectrum in the House that the discussion should be held under Rule 168. The leader of the left parties in the House Mr. Sitaram Yechury supported the move of Mr. Jaitley which was strongly opposed by the ruling benches. The Chairman of the House Mohammed Hamid Ansari said that there was a consensus among the political parties on having a discussion on price rise and not the procedure. This agitated the opposition party members forcing the chairman to adjourn the House.
