Rajya Sabha adjourned for want of quorum

Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day today for want of quorum in the post-lunch session. When the House reassembled at 2.30 pm after two adjournments in the pre-lunch session, Congress member Anand Sharma pointed out the lack of quorum and insisted on adjournment on the ground. <br/><br/>After waiting for a while, Deputy Chairman Prof PJ Kurien said the quorum bells rang twice but there was no improvement in the numbers. He then adjourned the House for the day. <br/><br/>Earlier, after first adjournment till noon, the House was adjourned again till 2.30 PM over demonetization issue and reduction of import duty on wheat. <br/><br/>When the House met for the day, several opposition leaders criticized the government alleging that the move will adversely affect the farmers even when the country is observing the 50th year of green revolution.<br/><br/>Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ramvilas Paswan said there is no shortage of wheat.
